Don Fisher - Setting New Standards In Apathy 7" (1996)

Photobucket
Crackle Records: 1000 pressed in December 96 OUT OF PRINT

1: Obvious
2: This Time
3: Cant Tell
4: Dodge

Another fucking gem right here. Powerful pop punk, just soaking with melodies & hooks, and bursting with energy, like a bunch of kids all hocked up on sugar at a party. I think these guys were from Wakefield, and featured ex-Chopper Dan on Bass. Everybody knows Crackle was home to the best pop punk bands in the 90s, and this is testement to that. Fans of Snuff, Leatherface, Chopper take note... You'll wish you'd of heard of these ages ago...

Skimmer - Uncool EP (1996)

Photobucket
Crackle Records (1500 pressed in October 96 OUT OF PRINT)

1: Uncool
2: Hanging Out With No One
3: Unpunk
4: Sarahs Blanket

Another great little UK pop punk release from Crackle Records (home to Chopper, Toast, Servo and many more...). Skimmer play that Ramones style punk, but with a more poppy influence, vocal harmonies aplenty and bursting with caffine fuelled energy. All the tracks on this 7" are solid, and great in their own right, but for me 'Hanging Out With No One' is the stand out song, with a catchy chorus that'll stick in your head for days... Well worth checking out if yr a fan of pop punk, and see what was going on in the UK 15 years ago...

Spithead - Swag (1996)

Photobucket

1: The New National Anthem
2: It's Time to Start Spying on Your Neighbours
3: Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam
4: Call The Police
5: Inconvenience
6: Never Say Die
7: Work
8: God made Me A Magnet
9: Liquidizer
10: Bonus Track: Bogus Track

Sorry for the lack of artwork, I got this as a demo to review for my 'zine back in the day, so dont have any to scan, and as yet cant find out on the net. I'll keep having a look tho and sort you out soon... Spithead are political two tone style ska punk, and this a is an awesome album many people have forgotten about or (as it is with the underground scene) never found out about... Half of this album will have you dancing up a reet skank, the other half will have you ready to throw bricks at coppers... I think these guys were from Birmingham, and they long split up, so grab yerself a peice of the past and turn up them speakers...

Photobucket
Peter Bower Records 001

1: Retro
2: Sussed
3: Civilised Society
4: No Gain

Leeds based Mutt were the first band to release something on Leeds/Thirsk Peter Bower Records. Four tracks of blistering punk rock, growly as hell, fans of Blitz will fucking love this. Infact, fans of punk rock will fucking love this.
