Four Letter Word - Words That Burn EP (1995)

Photobucket

1: Rich White Ghetto
2: Call Off The Dogs
3: Fundamentally Flawed
4: Shelf Life

This is a right treat. Welly, from Artcore fanzine fame, fronts this melodic hardcore punk rock band from Wales. Blazing hooks, great manly yet melodic vocals, and enough power to make you feel like He-Man. Or Something. Some real punk rock, drawing influences from the old UK greats like SLF, and mixing it up with some good ol'USA hardcore punk, and adding a twist of crunchy pop punk. Politically charged lyrics, with a personal touch to them, and choruses you'll be singing along to in no time at all. Just fucking great, it really is...

Dave Heroes Says: One of the UKs most under-rated punk rock bands.

Chopper - Self Preservation Society EP (1995)

Photobucket
Crackle Records 1010 pressed in March 95 OUT OF PRINT

1: Not Perfect
2: Volume
3: Ubelter
4: Sad16
5: That Fucking Hurt

We all love a bit of Chopper, dont we? This was their second 7" on Crackle Records, and in my humble opinion, is probably their finest one. Chopper play ultra fast, ultra poppy, punk rock, kind of like Snuff meets The Descendents, and who wouldn't love that? Every single song on here is beyond awesome, but 'Volume' is one of my faves, about being in a band with yr mates, and has a way-too-catchy 'na na na' chorus that'll be stuck in yr head for weeks at a time. This is a must grab, and to quote nWo's Kevin Nash - "Its just too sweet".

Dave Heroes says: Relive yr punk rock teen years.

Toast - Smart Kids... Dumb Music EP (1995)

Photobucket
Crackle Records 1070 pressed in March 95 OUT OF PRINT

1: I Feel Sick
2: Waste Of Time
3: Sarah Jane
4: Make Me Puke

More punk rawk from Toast, this time on the always awesome Crackle Records. Catchy, simple, and melodic but raw and fast, just exactly how we like our snotty braindead punk-pop. More songs about drinking and broken hearts all wrapped up in a 3-chord punk rock wrap of speed. Perfect for anyone who still thinks they're 18.

Dave Heroes says: You can't get enough Toast...

Toast - Songs For Losers EP (1995)

Photobucket
Damaged Goods

1: You're Getting On My Nerves
2: Make It Up
3: Give Me A Beer
4: Mr Postman

The UKs very own Screeching Weasel. Snotty, angry, fast, but catchy as hell, this is Ramones style punk turned up to 11, and then turned up a bit more. 'Make It Up' is probably the best track, but the other 3 tracks are all dang good too, if you like your pop punk with balls, and sounding rough, raw and punk as fuck, then this is for you - fo'sure.

Dave Heroes says: Loverly Toast...

Maniac Squat - Fuck Off 7" (1995)

Photobucket

1: Fuck Off
2: Hey Rude Boy

Apologies for the small pic, photobucket kept taking down our scan of the cover for violating their policies (can't imagine why?), so I had to blag this pic off the net... The first track on this single is a oi-ish punk rock track, with a 'fuck off' laden chorus. Immature, but fun none the less. Best played loud. The b-side is an instrumental ska track, nice and two-tone influenced, and I'm sure you'll love it.

Dave Heroes says: The first ever band to be interviewed in Thirsk zine 'My God Can Beat Up You God'...

Diesel Queens - Hooked On Moronics LP (1995)

Photobucket

1: OSH
2: I Like Cheese
3: Waterhead Boy
4: The Wanderer
5: Puppy Song
6: Happy Peppy (House Mix)
7: Man-Boy Love
8: Manson Family Fued
9: Chicken Boys Conundrum
10: Parlez Vous Pou-Pou
11: Pantysniffer
12: Happy Peppy (Jailbreak Mix)
13: Fallen Clown
14: Punks Went Dirthead
15: Assman
16: Fuck N Drink
17: Codpeice Nation
18: Liposuction

What can be said about this record, that cant be figured out from the cover? A suprising release for MaximumRock&Roll Records (mainly in that its good...), this is a pure-sleazy un-pc deprived perverted and down right stupid album, and its fucking awesome fun. Features the original 'Fuck N Drink' which yorkshire punk rockers Homebrew made famous with their version of it. Other songs cover hot topics such as cheese, loving asses, retards, peados, and more dumb stuiff. C'mon, you know the teenager in you will love this. And so will the teenager you're in...

Dog On A Rope - Yob Culture 7" (1995)

Photobucket

1: Giro Day
2: Skrewydriver
3: Yob Culture
4: Dead Kops

Okay, how can we forget this? Dog On A Rope were a fucking awesome punk rock band from Leeds, now sadly split up. We've seen them play countless times, and drunk with them even more, they were a reet bunch of nice people and they played some of the best snarly DIY street punk rock at the time. The Write Offs actually covered one of their songs, Teacher Cop, which may end up on here one day... This 7" starts with the sing-a-long Giro Day (Hip Hip Horray, Its Giro Day) which was always a live favourite... Skrewydriver is a kick in the balls to Ian from nazi band Skrewdriver, and his fatal car accident "Ian Stuart, you blew it, we'd of done it for you, but you beat us to it". Yob Culture & Dead Kops are 2 more great punk rock songs that'll have you chanting along in no time...
